Welcome to the Chellaston
Infant School website. We hope you enjoy looking at it and the
information useful. If you need any more information about our school,
the email address is
head@chellastoni.derby.sch.uk /
admin@chellastoni.derby.sch.uk . Our aim is that children enjoy
learning. We were inspected by Ofsted in March 2007; you can read a copy
of the report on
www.ofsted.gov.uk , who said “all groups of pupils achieve well
because their needs are addressed and catered for effectively.” They
also noted that “children run through the gates in the morning, looking
forward to the exciting activities that await them.”
Our school is a
co-educational school for children aged from 4 to 7 years and is
maintained by Derby City Council. The school was first opened in 1878
for the education of children of all ages. In January 1967 it became an
Infant School following the opening of Chellaston Junior School.
Children normally transfer there in the September after their seventh
birthday.
Admissions Policy
Our planned admission level
is 120. Class sizes are limited to 30. Derby City Council is responsible
for co-ordination of admissions to our school. For further details,
contact 01332 716939.
Pupils admitted here
but who live outside the area are expected to transfer to the junior
school serving their home area: (if you wish your child to transfer to
Chellaston Junior School you will need to talk to the Junior School Headteacher).
